On this page we will tell you how and why eBooking stores and process your personal data.

Processing of personal data in eBooking

When you sign in to eBooking using your library card ID & PIN they get stored in eBooking. Your birthdate will also be stored, if eBooking can fetch it from the library system. eBooking will ask you to enter your birthdate during your first sign in, if the library system doesn't provide it. Library card ID & PIN are used for authentication. Your birthdate is required to implement age-restricted workstations.

If link between eBooking and library system is not available, you will sign in using username and password associated with your user account. Your user account also contains your library card ID and birthdate. If you don't have user account in eBooking and cannot sign in with your library card, library staff can create account for you.

You can update your user account with user name of your choice and use it to sign in to eBooking. You can also choose your language, default location and email address. Default location is library or department where you most preferably use public computers. You can update your user account at any time on My Account page. Your email address may used to send your reservation remainders or cancellation notifications. eBooking may also send you a notification if your user account is temporarily blocked and cannot be used to sign in. Adding your email address and receiving notifcations is optional and you can change your preferences at any time.

Every time you use public computers in your library eBooking sotres log events about your use. ID of the computer, date, time and duration of your use wil be stored in those events. Collected data is used to implement usage rules for the public computers. Collected data may also be used to investigate technical issues or prohibited use of public computers.

Your library may also use eBooking to monitor printing. If print monitoring is enabled in your library, time of printing, number of pages, computer and total price of the print job will be collected. Print jobs are marked paid when library staff collects your payment.

Your personal data is only stored in electronic form. Library staff and service provider employees are allowed to access the data and are authenticated with username and password.

eBooking stores your personal data whole time you use it. User accounts that are not longer in use are reqularly removed. Explicit data retention durations differ between libraries. Please contact library for more information. If user has upcoming reservations or unpaid print jobs, user account will not be removed until all reservations has passed or cancelled and print jobs are paid.

Use of cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser when you are using the web. Cookies are used to track the use of the service and that collected data is used to improve user experience of the service. Cookies used for tracking does not contain your personal data. With cookies eBooking can keep your signed in while you are booking public computers. If cookies are blocked you cannot sign in to eBooking or book computers. By using eBooking serivce you accept usage of cookies.
